Hey!
My name is Linda Lopez and I am a licensed professional counselor who has 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I teach young men and women how to gain control over their thoughts, build confidence and decrease feelings of shame and guilt.
My past work experience includes working in private practice, mental health hospitals and higher education. I work primarily with adults and couples. I am skilled and experienced in working with individuals who struggle with anxious thoughts/feelings, self-esteem, body image, life transitions (such as going to college, newlywed, etc.), communication and boundary issues, depression and past or present trauma.
Specialties
I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and cognitive processing therapy (CPT)
to help clients change and challenge their unhelpful thinking styles. I also incorporate acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients increase their psychological flexibility. I understand that each persons situation is unique and strive to meet my clients where they are at.

The relationship we build will be professional, but a very real relationship, nevertheless. When appropriate, humor and metaphors are also something I love to use in sessions. I've learned that if we take the time to listen to others, to truly see them, wonderful things can happen. I understand that sharing and being vulnerable is not always easy and would be honored to have you trust me with things that are heavy on your heart.

Initial Intake
Whether you choose individual or couples counseling, your first session will alway start with an initial intake session. The goal of the initial intake is to learn more about you/your partner, begin figuring out your goals and take the first steps to embrace growth and change. We will also review paperwork, discuss ethical concerns and the therapeutic relationship.
Individual Counseling
It is time to prioritize YOU. Individual sessions will consist of you and your counselor. It’s an opportunity to further understand yourself, address issues that are keeping you stuck and learn tools to help you move forward with more confidence.
